Plant, Agricultural & Marine ECU Work

A car is asked for full power in bursts of a few seconds. An excavator holds it for hours, a genset holds it all night, and a boat holds it until the fuel runs out. That single difference decides most of what goes wrong on these engines and most of what a calibration can do about it.

Regeneration is the clearest case. A diesel particulate filter needs a sustained exhaust temperature to burn off what it has collected, and a machine that spends its life at idle between short bursts never reaches it. The cycle keeps aborting, the filter keeps loading, and eventually the machine derates with a job half finished. That is a duty cycle problem showing up as an emissions fault, and forcing a regeneration only resets the clock.

Measurement is the other difference. There is no stretch of road to time a tractor on. On a machine we work from fuel burn and ECU logging under a held load, which is a better measure anyway for something whose job is to sustain output rather than accelerate.

Road rules do not follow a machine that never leaves the site. Plant and equipment that stays off public roads is the one category where the options are genuinely wider, and we will tell you which side of that line a given machine sits on before anything is agreed. A road-registered truck is a different conversation and keeps its hardware.

Most of this work can be done from the module alone. A generator ECU arrives without the generator behind it, which is usually easier than getting us to the machine.
